My name is Isabel Wilder. Some folx call me Billie.

Born and raised in the Hudson Valley, NY; deeply and irrevocably shaped by Brooklyn, Provincetown, and Los Angeles, multiple cross-country road trips and rides hitched across Europe and Asia Minor.

My work is influenced by science, nature, humor, astrology, the human condition and the mysteries of the cosmos.

I am inspired by the energetic weather of the Universe, my time improvising at Upright Citizen’s Brigade, my years spent laboring as a stoneworker and landscaper, the spells cast by music, organic form and function, my decades-long studies of both photography and dance, and the textures found in my travels near and far, internal and external.

I create every piece by hand, either by throwing at the wheel or by building with slabs or coils. I then fire the work in an electric kiln and tend to my bee colony while praying to the moon that nothing explodes. (I’m just kidding- I don’t actually think the moon is in control of my kiln. That would be ridiculous. Mars and Mercury are.)
